Medical Education

Since its inception, the GWSA has been devoted to providing quality educational symposia at the local and national level. The GWSA has been a proud participant in lectureships in local universities, as well as national medical societies. We are excited about the level of interest in our educational platform.

Medical Symposia
  • Difficult Airways Symposium - Perioperative management of the adult and pediatric airway. Surgical airway devices along with new airway technologies were demonstrated in a workshop format. Washington DC, June 1999
  • Medical Economic Symposium -A forum dedicated to the exploration of emerging technology·in the practice of medicine. A power panel discussion with local and national medical leaders on new practice paradigms for Anesthesiogists were explored. Baltimore, Maryland June 2001.
  • Medical Preparedness for Biological and Chemical Atrocities – The GWSA led the formation of a coalition of interested medical organizations for the purpose of helping health care providers become prepared for the variety of potential biological and chemical dangers that potential terrorists could directly against American citizenry. The Coalition for Medical Preparedness consisted of The Greater Washington Society of Anesthesiology, The Washington Area Critical Care Society, The Maryland/DC Society of Anesthesiologists, The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and The Walter Reed Army Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology. The symposium brought in experts from The Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Defense, and The United States Army Institutes of Biological and Chemical Research to provide this continuing education opportunity.
