This program is based on the premise that it takes a village to raise a child. The GWSA is excited to announce that a formalized mentoring program with the Student National Medical Association has been established.

• Mechanism established for medical student and pre-medical student mentoring
• Identification of established physicians who are interested in being a mentor
• Identification of interested medical students and pre-medical students from the SNMA regional database
• Matching of compatible mentors and mentorees
• Guidance as to how the mentors can be the most effective

• A biannual evaluation process to assess the effectiveness of each mentorship pair
• A process whereby deserving mentored students can get a letter of recommendation from the GWSA
• Student National Medical Association Alliance
• The GWSA has committed a goal taking at least 2 SNMA mentorship program members per year with GWSA international medical teams to Africa or the Carribean.
• Developing a cadre with skills necessary to render humanitarian assistance to the needy in remote locations.
